Biblical rebuttal to the rapture cult by Carol Wolman

Biblical rebuttal to the rapture cult                         by Carol Wolman

John 3: 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

The rapture cultists would have us believe that they alone will be saved, and the rest of the world will be consumed by the fire of nuclear holocaust.  The leaders they support, the Bush junta, are hastening us toward that end, by developing new nuclear weapons and weakening the NonProliferation Treaty.  Conveniently, the rapture cult enables the Bush junta to plunder and destroy, with the blessing of leading Christian clerics.

John 3: 17, quoted above, says something very different.  Jesus did not come to save only those who believe in a specific doctrine.  He came to save the world.  The world is our planet, our earthly existence, our biosphere.

How can a man who lived and died 2000 years ago save us from our folly?  We have fouled our nest horribly.  Our future as a species is threatened by nuclear war, by global warming, and numerous other catastrophes.

Jesus was the Prince of Peace.  His law of love can bring peace.  Peace is what we desperately need to solve our common problems on a global level.  He taught us how to deal with the bad guys nonviolently, by loving them and at the same time exposing their hypocrisy.  If we follow His example, we may yet be saved.
