Jesus was a pacifist by Carol Wolman

Jesus was a pacifist  by Carol Wolman

As we commemorate Good Friday, the day of Jesus' betrayal and crucifixion, let us contemplate what it means to be a Christian.  Jesus made it clear that day that He was a pacificist, a nonviolent activist whose weapon was His tongue.

At his arrest:
John 18  11Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath:

While being questioned by Pilate,
36Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

And further:
37...Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

Being a peacemaker means being of the truth.  It means exposing the lies of the false Christians, the warmongers who call themselves Christians, who now hold the reins of power in the US.

It means protesting against the hypocrisy of the "prolifers", who call the Senate into special session on a Sunday to "save" the life of a brain-damaged woman, but thinking nothing of killing 100,000 Iraqis.  It means protesting the stealing of votes by the "spreaders of democracy".  It means demanding a full investigation into the basic question of 9-11: whodunit?

If we are peacemakers, we hear the voice of the Prince of Peace.  We know that we cannot buy into the hypocrisy of King George II,  but live in the Kingdom where truth is more important than convenience, or wealth, or popularity.  We put up our swords and use our tongues, our pens and our keyboards to write and demand the truth.

And we must be willing to suffer the consequences, as He did.

In the name of the Prince of Peace,  Carol Wolman
