Time for a new covenant.

The covenant we have in America is between corporations and consumers.  The corporations provide jobs and loans to the consumers, who in turn not only buy the goods made by the corporations, but also support their foreign acquisitions.  As voters, US consumers have now given carte blanche to the corporados to use the full power of the US military and intelligence to take over other countries.  In other words, we have sold our souls for a mess of pottage.  We need a new covenant.

When He speaks of a "new" covenant,
He declares the first one obsolete.
And what has become obsolete
and has grown old is close to disappearing.
Hebrews 8: 13

The covenant between corporations and consumers is more than obsolete, it's a disaster.  The new covenant offered by Christ is one of love, sharing, taking care of the poor.  It is a covenant based on truth and justice.

Kindness and truth shall meet;
justice and peace shall kiss.
Truth shall spring out of the earth,
and justice shall look down from heaven.
Psalm 85: 11-12

As peacemakers, we are called to spread the word about the new covenant.

Jesus went up the mountain and summoned those whom he wanted .
Mark 3: 13

This is the sort of integration we desperately need to make peace on earth.  Thanks so much, Robert.

Subject: [peacemakersBiblestudy] Christ as the Way to Peace Between Christians & Muslims
In Ephesians 2:13-18 Paul states the principle
that people of all groups may come together through
the common denominator of Christ;
Ephesians 2:13-22 (NIV),
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away
have been brought near through the blood of Christ.
14          For he himself is our peace,
who has made the two one
           and has destroyed the barrier,
           the dividing wall of hostility,
15       by abolishing in his flesh the law
        with its commandments and regulations.

His purpose was to create in himself one new man
out of the two, thus making peace, 16 and in this one
body to reconcile both of them to God through the
cross, by which he put to death their hostility.
17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away
and peace to those who were near.
18                 For through him
we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

However, sometimes there's more to what we read
than we know at first glance. Sometimes we use more
than one name in referring to the same person. For
instance, let's take a look at some passages from
Daniel 8-11:1 and Revelation 1 and see what the
implications of this could be for peace between Islam
and Christianity, accomplished through the Word of God
which, as we know, is Christ, so if peace may be
accomplished through the Word of God it is therefore
accomplished through Christ.
Daniel 8:15-16(NIV);
15  While I, Daniel, was watching the vision.
there before me stood one who looked like a man.
16 And I heard a man's voice from the Ulai calling,
"Gabriel, tell this man the meaning of the vision."
Daniel 9:21;
while I was still in prayer, Gabriel,
the man I had seen in the earlier vision."

Then in Daniel 11:2, as Daniel talks with Gabriel,
Gabriel says;
"Now then, I tell you the truth:
            Three more kings will appear."

This is the only instance in the Old Testament
anyone says, "I tell you the truth." Once. But Jesus
is quoted saying it 78 times in the Gospels. That's it
for the Bible. Once in the Old Testament by the angel
in Daniel, 78 times by Jesus. No one else.
That should make it clear who's speaking here, but
there's an even better proof, connecting Jesus in
Revelation 1:15 to Gabriel in Daniel 10:6. Here it is.
Revelation 1:10-18; 10
On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard
behind me a loud voice like [Gabriel's] trumpet,
11  which said: "Write on a scroll what you see
and send it to the seven churches:
to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis,
Philadelphia and Laodicea."
12 I turned around to see the voice that was speaking
to me.And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands,
13      and among the lampstands was someone
                 "like a son of man,"
dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet
and with a golden sash around his chest.
14       His head and hair were white like wool,
                   as white as snow,
and his eyes were like blazing fire.
15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace,
and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.
16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of
his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword (his word).
His face was like the sun
           shining in all its brilliance.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead.
Then he placed his right hand on me and said:
"Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.
18         I am the Living One; I was dead,
and behold I am alive for ever and ever!
And I hold the keys of death and Hades."

Revelation 1:15 connects Jesus to the 'man', or
'angel' Gabriel in.
Daniel 10:5-6; 5    I looked up
and there before me was a man dressed in linen,
with a belt of the finest gold around his waist.
6           His body was like chrysolite,
              his face like lightning,
           his eyes like flaming torches,
his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze,
and his voice like the sound of a multitude."

Revelation 14:1-3 ties 'multitudes' with 'rushing
waters', both have a gold sash, blazing eyes and face,
and arms and legs of glowing bronze. Now, either
Gabriel is the Father (not), or Gabriel is equal to
Christ (not), or Gabriel is another name for Christ
(yes). Interestingly enough, in the Qur'an, in Sura 2
(chapter 2), verse 98, Muhammad said he received the
Qur'an from Jibreel, which is Arabic for 'Gabriel'.
Now, Ephesians 2:13-18 takes on an entirely different
dimension, one in which Muslims may accept Jibreel's
earlier message in a way that doesn't require them to
believe their ancestors went to hell. The problem is
that traditional theology requires others to accept
their salvation while at the same time acknowledging
their ancestors went to hell, which is a form of curse
upon their ancestors, breaking the 5th Commandment.
Salvation based upon breaking God's Law.
Is it any wonder we see the world in a mess today?
Didn't Paul tell us Satan would deceive the entire
world?
God put two linkages in scripture. Now people
cannot objectively deny Jesus is Gabriel. What? Does
everyone have arms and legs of gleaming bronze like
the 'First and the Last' who was dead but is now
alive?
          Muhammad's principle prophecy is...
"Jesus son of Mary will be a just administrator
and leader of my Ummah (the Muslim community).""

Now, why would Allah/the Father send Jesus to rule
Muslims if he wasn't at the very least Muhammad's
equal? This is the bridge to peace, if we're willing
to accept it.

                  The Tree of  Life

I want you to picture a lovely blue sky.
God created this sky, and the sky.is a part of God.
               The air is very thin,
and God is present in this thinness.

Beneath the sky lies a grassy field.
The soil is rich, moist, full of minerals,
                nutrients, and water;
all the things necessary to nourish life.
God created this soil, and the soil.is a part of God.
God is present in its richness.
            The soil.is the sacred Earth.

In the center of this field is a very special place,
a place where the God essence
              has gathered very densely.

This special place is a tall and magnificent tree.
Its stout trunk is filled with a pulsing vitality.
The sap flows up from the roots,
                  through the trunk,
up through the limbs to the slender branches,
              and outward to the twigs.
At the tips of the twigs are the buds,
              and  we  are  the  buds.

The sap is the essence of God; pure love and life.
If the buds could look back from where they came
they would see they are all interconnected,
             directly connected to God,
and that in each of them there is divinity.

God's purpose for the bud is to drink of this essence,
to open outward to the sun,
and to perform the dance of photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis is creation, freedom of expression,
                loving and living.
When the bud does this it nourishes itself,
         and invigorates the entire tree.

As your eyes drink in the beauty of the tree,
the field, the sky, you notice a subtle change.
A soft glow of golden light
radiates from within all that lies around you.

You see this because your spiritual eyes have opened,
and it is with spiritual eyes
that this light is most visible.

             Waves of rippling light,
in all the colors of the rainbow,
and of rainbows you've never imagined,
            wash down over your head,
          upon your shoulders and body,
filling you with the most delightful warmth
you've ever felt, the warmth of unconditional love,
because you.are in the presence of God.

           Your soul is in rapture,.bliss.
And as you gaze out upon creation,
             you are filled with love.

You love the blue of the sky,
the velvet green of the grass
and the glorious beauty of the tree-
and now you see mankind through God's eyes.

                   Welcome home.
