Discerning the true God from idols

We know that we belong to God,
and the whole world is under the power of the Evil One.
We also know that the Son of God has come
and has given us discernment to know the One who is true.
And we are in the One who is true,
in his Son Jesus Christ.
He is the true God and eternal life.
Children, be on your guard against idols.

1 John 5: 19-21

The whole world is under the power of the Evil One, who cares about profit, not people.  Under his reign, the biosphere is being plundered and destroyed.  Satan tells us to worship our SUV's and forget about truth, justice, and loving our neighbors.  If we worship the true God, we uphold His values, and do not worship money, success, and the other idols of our day.

 

Bush revealed himself when, after 9-11, he rallied the country and exhorted us to go shopping.  Is he in the power of the Evil One, or the One who is true?   Use your discernment.
