As Peter makes clear in the above passage, God does not favor one nation over another.  He favors individual persons who fear Him and do good things.  He favors peacemakers, those who follow the teaching and example of the Prince of Peace.

Christians all over the world are celebrating the Resurrection of Christ today.  The Resurrection follows the Crucifixion.  Christ's way is to suffer unto death rather than harm others.  This is the way of peace.  Christ fought with His words, His tongue, and so must we.  And if we are killed, or harmed, because the powers-that-be do not like the truth that we tell, our exposure of their lies, then we must be willing to suffer the consequences, as He did. 

Peace grows out of justice, for when disputes are settled fairly and crime is punished appropriately, there is no need for war.  Justice grows out of truth, for when the truth is plain to all, justice will be demanded.

The Christofascists who rule America hate the truth, make a mockery of justice, and love war.  We must test their proclaimed love of freedom by exercising our freedom of speech, as Jsus exercised His.  We must expose their hypocrisy, as Jesus exposed the hypocrisy of the Pharisees.  We must demand that the executives of Halliburton and Enron be brought to justice.  We must demand that the lying president be impeached.  We must stop the American war machine.
