Who Are You? by Carol Wolman

Who Are You? by Carol Wolman

John 13:  19Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am He.

Jesus knew He was the Messiah.  He knew He was fulfilling prophecies, including the prophecies about His death, to be found in Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53.  God gave Him an exceedingly difficult job to do, and He did it.

God gives jobs to many.  The Bible is full of stories of prophets, leaders, kings, apostles, who were given jobs and did them at great personal cost.

The personal cost is usually great, because working for God means working against the ways of this world.  In this world, especially today, mammon is the reigning deity.  It's all about money and possessions- houses, vehicles, computers, cell phones, clothes, etc.  Working for God means concentrating on spiritual matters, like truth, justice, peace.

Many people are working for God today, at great personal cost.  Some examples: Rachel Corrie, martyred while trying to save a Palestinian dwelling from an Israeli bulldozer.  Sibel Edmunds, the FBI whistleblower going up against Congress and the courts.  Bruce Gagnon, the tireless organizer against weapons in space, who is being called anti-American.

Those who claim to be working for God but are actually amassing personal wealth, people like Bush, DeLay, Cheney,- are committing the worst sort of blasphemy.  They represent the corporate beast, which is gobbling up the planet.

Revelation 2:9
I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews (Christians) , and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
Revelation 13:1
And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

Who are you?  Does God have a job for you?  Are you willing to sacrifice to bring His kingdom of peace and love to planet earth?  His way is the only way to ensure our survival.
