Easter: affirmation of life by Carol Wolman

Psalm 16: 11 11Thou wilt shew me the path of life.

The path of life leads through the cross.  This is the message of Easter.  It is true not only for individuals, but for the human species.  As we face global warming, radiation poisoning, famine and pestilence, and the other horrors that approach, we can only survive and save our habitat by the actions of individuals who are willing to oppose the sanctimonious oppressors, as Jesus opposed the Pharisees of His day; and sacrifice their lives for the good of all.  Individuals like Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Christianity has earned a bad name among those who affirm life, because it has been claimed by a death cult, a fanatical group numbering in the millions who have psychically abandoned life on earth, and await "the rapture", whereby they will be transported to some other realm.  The rapture cultists are sadly mistaken.  Jesus comes to bring life, not death.  He does not kill, He resurrects.

Deuteronomy 30: 19  I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

The preachers of death are false prophets.  They confuse the people so that they support the corporate beast which is destroying the planet, and the military dragon that empowers the beast.  If life is to continue for our seed, we must be willing to denounce th Pharisees and risk the cross.
