God is with the oppressed by Carol Wolman

^{Psalm 103: 6}The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

 

The Biblical God is an equalizer.  He protects widows and orphans, and humbles the mighty. 

 

Who is oppressed these days, and who is doing the oppressing?  The Iraqi people are oppressed; they are much worse off in every way now than they were under Saddam.  They lack electricity, clean water, security, employment, medical care, schools, and freedom.  They are occupied by a foreign power and often arrested for no good reason and jailed.  Their press is controlled.  And on and on.

 

And the US is the oppressor.  Bush broke every commandment in invading Iraq.  He bore false witness, he kills, he steals, and he worships the god of money and power, not the God who executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

 

Let us not be deceived by his piousness.  Bush is a hypocrite, and God is NOT with him.
