Let the God of Truth Arise!  by Carol Wolman

John 17:  17 Thy word is truth.

Psalm 68:  1Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.

 
Liars are the enemies of God.  Bush is a liar.  This is proven by the "smoking gun" memo recently released in Britain, which shows that the invasion of Iraq was planned 8 months before, and intelligence was "cooked"- ie fabricated, to justify it. 
 
 
Bush has consolidated his power to the point where the US mainstream press has blacked out this crucial story.  Now Bush is planning to bomb Iran, and no doubt is cooking the news of Iran's nuclear plans to justify this latest aggression.
 
Stop! Stop!  Arise, O people of the US, and demand the truth!  Impeach the liars!  Bush and his associates are enemies of God.  They lie, they deceive, they "spin", they distort, they control the news.  They are enemies of God.  They are abusing the offices of power which they have stolen.  They jimmied with the voting machines.  They lied about 9-11.  They lied about the cost of Medicare.  They are lying about Social Security.
 
If they bomb Iran, Russia may decide to protect Iran.  We may be looking at another nuclear holocaust!
 
Let the God of truth arise, before it is too late!

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is scheduled to vote on the nomination of John Bolton to be Ambassador to the United Nations this Thursday, May 12th. Committee Democrats are united against Bolton and four Republicans on the Committee having expressed doubts about him - there is a clear opportunity to defeat this misguided nomination.

With your help, Council for a Livable World has been lobbying hard against this nomination. We have also developed evidence that Bolton lied to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee during his confirmation hearings. Democrats on the Committee have requested the release of State Department documents to illustrate Bolton's efforts to pressure intelligence analysts into producing reports that fit his preconceived notions about weapons programs in Cuba and North Korea, and to punish them if they did not comply. Unfortunately, Condoleeza Rice and Senate Republicans are stonewalling and keeping the documents hidden. Committee Chairman Richard Lugar (R-IN) claims he has the votes to pass the nomination on to the full Senate, but Senators Chafee (R-RI), Hagel (R-NE), Murkowski (R-AK), and Voinovich (R-OH) have all expressed doubts about Bolton's fitness for the position.

With just days to go before a possible vote, here's what you can do to help defeat John Bolton:

1. Write your Senators! Tell them you oppose the Bolton nomination and they should too.

2 . Contribute to the Council's effort to defeat the nomination! We are working hard on Capitol Hill, but we need your support to keep the pressure on. We can win with your help!

This nomination battle offers the chance to hand the Bush administration the first major defeat of its second term. We're close to victory, and with your help we can achieve it!

Mainsteam media is ignoring the memo about Bush fixing the intelligence and facts to fit his policy of attacking Iraq. So it falls to us to prick them to action. I'm writing a letter to the following media addresses to ask them to write about the memo. They might write about it anyway, but if not, the more letters they get, the more likely they are to report on it. Please write to them to tell them to tell us the truth about Bush's lies. Hi,

I would like to see you report on the July 2002 document published by the London Times that said in Washington "the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy" of removing Saddam through military action. This has the potential to be a very important story, but only if it is reported. The Bushies need to be held accountable for their actions. Here are some sources:

Denouncing Pharisees by Carol Wolman

John 17   4I have glorified Thee on the earth: I have finished the work which Thou gavest me to do.
 
Jesus lived at a time similar to ours.  An empire was oppressing the people, and their governing representatives, the Pharisees, pretended to a hollow piety, which they imposed on the people as a theocracy. 
 
Much of the work Jesus did consisted of denouncing the hypocrisy of the Pharisees.  Like the radical religious right today, they turned people off to religion altogether.
 
Matthew 23:13  But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
 
He warned people about their false doctrines.
 
Matthew 16:11-12  How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?  Then understood they how that He bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
 
It was because of these constant challenges to their spiritual authority that He was crucified.
 
Matthew 12:14  Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.
 
Many of us today have similar work.  Denouncing the hypocritical piety of the rulers of today is just as important as denouncing their political lies and their violations of international law.  They represent the corporate empire of arms makers (the beast), while pretending that they have a divine right to rule.  They seek to derive their authority from God, just as the Pharisees did.  In so doing, they have turned many  decent people away from God altogether.
 
Their preachers teach the false doctrine of the rapture, which, by fixating the eyes of the people on some mythical heaven, distracts them from the evil deeds of the rulers here on earth.

Progressives value religious tolerance, and are reluctant to denounce anyone else's beliefs.  Yet the beliefs of the radical religious right would subject us all to religious tyranny.  Taken a step further, the rapture cult condemns us all to a fiery hell on earth, except, of course, for the true believers.  This dangerous, pernicious doctrine must be denounced, along with the false prophets who uphold it, and the Pharisees who profit by it.
 
If it means following Jesus to the cross, let our love for our descendants guide us, as His love for us guided Him.
