War and Peace by Carol Wolman

War and Peace by Carol Wolman

John 20: 19Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them,  "Peace be unto you."

Bush calls himself "the war president", and promises us "endless war on terror".  Jerry Falwell, one of the right-wing preachers who rallies the faithful to support Bush, assures us that God is pro-war http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=36859, quoting "The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name."  Exodus 15:3, KJV.

This is very handy, since war benefits the corporations represented by key members of the Bush administration- Halliburton, the Carlyle group, Bechtel.  These are the corporations who supply the weapons, the support services, and increasingly, the mercenaries for the US military.  They also rebuild what the military destroys.  The Bush junta benefits, everyone else suffers- the American people as well as the Iraqis.

The Old Testament God was indeed a man of war, helping His chosen people in battle when they obeyed Him, but the new covenant brought by His son, the Prince of Peace, changed all that.  Jesus is the bringer of peace.  His greeting to His followers is: Peace be with you.

With His coming, warfare was changed to spiritual warfare:  "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Ephesians 6:12, KJV

This is our battle today, against spiritual wickedness in high places, against the hypocrisy of the pious rulers who profess the Prince of Peace as they murderously plunder the oil resources of other nations.  The principalities and powers of this world are the people in the White House and Downing St. and Jerusalem who slander their neighbors to create excuses to make war.  They call themselves Christians, but they are the rulers of darkness.

Jesus fought with "the sharp sword coming out of His mouth"- His tongue.  (Rev. 19: 16).  He was "the Word made flesh".   The job of peacemakers is the same, to convert physical warfare to spiritual warfare,  to expose, denounce and impeach the pious rulers, the warmakers, who are leading us to destruction.

In the name of the Prince of Peace,  Carol Wolman
