Reclaiming personhood- a proposal- by Carol Wolman

Reclaiming personhood- a proposal
by Carol Wolman

Psalm 117 1O praise the LORD,  all ye people.

In the US, corporations are legally people, entitled to all the rights of persons under the US Constitution.  This gives them immense power to influence elections, advertise falsely, and in other ways undermine attempts to maintain a godly society- a just, peaceful and honest society.

People have souls and can praise and worship the God of truth, justice, righteousness and peace.  They can love their neighbors and practice wise stewardship of planet earth.

Corporations have no souls.  Their first obligation, legally, is to maximize profit for their stockholders.  It is not to please their customers, maintain high quality in their product, safeguard the environment, or perform a public service.  Corporations are legally obliged to worship mammon.

The US is now run for the benefit of corporations rather than of people, despite all the Bush rhetoric about God.  9-11 was quickly exploited to justify invading Iraq.  To whose benefit?  Not the Iraqi people, whose suffering is worse now than under Saddam.  Not the American people, whose children are being killed, poisoned and corrupted by the military.

Halliburton benefits, the Carlyle Group benefits, Bechtel benefits.  The corporations most closely tied to the Bush White House are the beneficiaries of the Iraq war, the missile shield boondoggle, the loosening of environmental standards, and many other Bush programs.

The way to reclaim our country and our planet is to deprive corporations of personhood.  This could be done by way of a Constitutional amendment that defines persons as living individual human beings, and excludes other entities such a corporations.  Then government would be returned to the people.  See http://DUHC.org for information, history, strategies.
