What Can We Do? by Carol Wolman

What Can We Do? by Carol Wolman

It's easy to feel helpless these days.  They have all the nuclear weapons, all the money, control of the media, and a fanaticism that binds them together, and drives them, and us, toward destruction.

My family went to the Earth Day celebration in Berkeley today, and came away feeling comforted.  We are still here, still strong, still full of faith and energy and creativity, still doing good work.

John 14:   12Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Jesus performed many miracles of healing.  It is how He made His reputation.  But the greater miracles were His teachings, and above all, His willingness to lay down His life for us, His friends and fellow peacemakers.

He was battling the oppressors of His day, the Romans and their representatives, the Pharisees.  He battled them with His words, His courage, and His death.  We are battling the corporate beast, and its representatives, the pious politicians and false prophets, who claim to believe in Jesus, while they do the opposite of everything He taught.

Jesus promised that, if we believe in Him, we can do greater things than He did.  We need to do greater things, because our enemy is greater.  We need all the help He can give us.
