A Nation of Bullies and Cowards by Carol Wolman

A Nation of Bullies and Cowards by Carol Wolman

Bullies are always cowards.  Nowadays they have names like "chickenhawk" and "turdblossom", and they use every weapon imaginable, from nuclear-tipped missiles to torture, with lots of psyops (psychological operations).  The rapture cult is the outstanding example of psyops, claiming that either you abandon planet earth psychologically, or you will be "left behind", to perish in the hell humans are making out of our dear green planet, God's special creation.

Most Americans are craven beyond belief, tolerating the bullies, even though it is obvious to anyone with a brain that they lie incessantly, care only to enrich the corporations, and are in office illegimately.  I believe the exit polls, which gave Kerry a 6 point victory over Bush in 2004, rather than the voting machines without paper trails, easily rigged, and owned by Bush supporters.  It's what you might call prima facie evidence of fraud, or would be in any other time in American history.

Why are we so cowed?  I doubt that it is because of Osama, but rather because of the Patriot Act, Homeland Security Dept, and general reputation for brutality and ruthlessness of the Bush administration.  As I walked around collecting signatures for impeachment at Barbara Lee's Downing Street event, I was surprised at the number of people who expressed fear that signing a letter to Rep. John Conyers, faxed straight to his office by whoever gathers the signatures, would get them in trouble somehow.  "Will Homeland Security knock on my door tonight?"  Barbara Lee herself seemed afraid of the "i" word, and cautioned us not to act prematurely.  The letter can be downloaded from: http://DeepEndNews.com/MEMORANDUM.htm

Not all Americans are cowards.  John  Conyers takes action every time he can, writing letters on Iraq, and torture, and appointments to the right people, mobilizing signatures from others in Congress.  He saw what happened to his good friend Martin Luther King, Jr., and he is cautious on impeachment.  He needs to hear from us.

Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame have exposed the lies behind the Iraq invasion, and the vindictiveness and traitorous nature of the Bush administration, and taken lots of heat for it.  Sibel Edmunds, the FBI whistleblower who won't quit, is another heroine, and has suffered greatly for her courage.  There are many other brave whistleblowers; some have been killed, others have been greatly harassed.

Matthew 16: 24Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Patrick Fitzgerald, the Special Prosecutor, is reportedly preparing indictments against many members of the Bush White House for obstruction of justice and perjury- the charges that brought NIxon down.  But Fitzgerald will not succeed in bringing them to justice without the backing and active cooperation of we the people and our representatives in Congress.  Bush is too firmly entrenched in the political halls of DC, although the military and the intelligence community despise him.

Being a citizen of a democracy carries with it a responsibility, to exercise that citizenship in the interests of the country as a whole.  This country is suffering, along with most other countries, from the policies of the Bush administration.  It is our job to get rid of these bullies.

You can help.  Go to    http://DeepEndNews.com/MEMORANDUM.htm  , print out the letter to Conyers, and make copies of it.  Then leave your computer.  Go out into the world, to your club, your coffeeshop, your place of business, and collect signatures.  To anyone willing to sign, ask them if they'd like a blank so they can do what you are doing.  John Conyer's fax number is at the top of the page.

This letter to him was composed by civil rights attorney John Bonifaz, and asks Conyers, from his position as ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, to float a Resolution of Inquiry as to whether Bush has committed impeachable offenses.  It is not the same letter that many people signed on line, a letter written by John Conyers to Bush, asking him to explain the Downing Street memos.  Bush has not responded to that letter, and it was sent three months ago.  Since then, we have lots more reason to suspect impeachable offenses- Rove's outing of a CIA agent, new revelations of torture as policy, new testimony that the twin towers could only have collapsed in 10 seconds if explosives were rigged prior to the airplanes hitting them.

Our cross to bear consists of living in these times, with the forces of death and destruction ascendant, and threatening all life on the planet.  Picking up the cross means fulfilling our responsibilities and exercising our constitutional right to impeach the criminals who have usurped the White House and much of Congress.
